Why It Matters
Croatia's first luxury boutique wine hotel, opened in 2004 and now a Relais & Châteaux member. Michelin Guide recommended every year from 2019 to 2025. Gault & Millau 3 toques (16/20) in 2025. The estate produces award-winning Malvasia, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Chardonnay sold worldwide, plus multi-award olive oils consistently ranked by Flos Olei.
A 19th-century stone estate tucked into the Istrian countryside, about 1.8km from the Adriatic coast. The original farmhouse — built to supply an Austro-Hungarian military garrison — now anchors 59 accommodation units spread across historic buildings, modern residences, and private pool villas. The whole operation is genuinely self-sufficient: estate wines, Flos Olei-awarded olive oils, a bio kitchen garden, and a beach club with a free shuttle.

The in-house concierge builds personalised day trips: truffle hunting in Motovun forest, glass kayaking at sunset on the Adriatic, visits to Pula's Roman amphitheatre, and private tours of Rovinj's old town. All tailored and locally sourced.
Complimentary bikes available to borrow. The route to Rovinj winds through shaded trails and hilltop viewpoints — a few kilometres of genuinely good scenery.
A 15–20 minute gentle jog through vineyards, olive groves, and woodland down to the private beach. A cocktail at the Beach Club marks the finish line, and the free shuttle brings you back.
Guided foraging excursion in the nearby woodland — truffles found can make it to your lunch plate in the restaurant. Available on request via the concierge.
A multi-location experience through the estate winery: barrique room, tasting room, winery rooftop, and the vineyard itself — six different tasting spots in total. Archive wines available in the tasting room only. Group tours for up to 10 people. Tasting open to non-hotel guests too.
30–45 min tasting of the estate's single-varietal olive oils, served with focaccia and skuta cheese. Consistent Flos Olei top rankings make this one of the better oil tastings in Istria.
Wine and sommelier courses, as well as seasonal cooking lessons, can be arranged on request. Menu varies by season depending on what's coming out of the garden.
