Why It Matters
First ME by Meliá in Portugal and Lisbon's first purpose-built luxury lifestyle hotel. Fismuler is the only Lisbon outpost of the acclaimed Spanish Familia La Ancha group. The 107m² Ultimate ME+ Suite and the 13th-floor Attiko rooftop — with full castle and river views — put it firmly on the map for the city's design-conscious crowd.
ME Lisbon is Portugal's debut property for the ME by Meliá brand — a purpose-built glass tower on the corner of Avenida António Augusto de Aguiar, steps from Marquês de Pombal square and a 6-minute walk from Avenida da Liberdade. Architect João Paciência drew the striking semi-transparent façade, while Broadway Malyan handled interiors, which take cues from jacaranda hues and Lisbon's arched streets. Cultural curator Guta Moura Guedes selected the contemporary Portuguese art that fills every corridor and room, with works by Fernanda Fragateiro, Silva!, and René Cruz Tavares. The vibe is polished and social — think well-dressed lobby crowd, a rooftop pool bar that becomes the most photographed spot in the area come summer, and two proper restaurants that could hold their own anywhere in the city.
