Mayfair House Hotel & Garden is a 179-room boutique hotel in Coconut Grove — not on Miami Beach, not in a downtown tower, but in the city's oldest neighborhood, a walkable village of art galleries, indie restaurants and old-growth trees. Originally opened in 1985 and designed by architect Kenneth Treister, the building is a genuine one-off: think intricate floral ironwork, curved columns and Art Nouveau bones that somehow feel more Gaudí than Florida. It reopened in September 2022 after a $50 million transformation by New York studio Goodrich, which leaned into the 80s-exotic DNA rather than sanitizing it. No two rooms are exactly alike. The Mayfair Grill — led by Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli — has become a genuine neighborhood dining destination, and the rooftop Sipsip bar draws both guests and locals for Caribbean-inspired drinks by the pool.
