A 16th-century Apulian limestone farmhouse spread across 100 hectares of olive groves and almond trees, about 2km outside the hilltop town of Oria. From the outside it's all stone walls and agricultural gravity. Step inside and it's something else: an adults-only retreat with 20 rooms split between the original historic Masseria and a restored 1960s farmhouse called the Colonica, a spa carved into the ancient granaries, and a restaurant pulling vegetables from its own organic garden each morning. No tufa vaulted ceiling here — that's a Masseria-wing thing — but the outdoor space more than compensates.

The Colonica version of a junior suite, and the plunge pool changes things considerably. Set in the farmhouse section among lush vegetation, with a private patio and your own small pool.
