Mandilla is a 10-room adults-only boutique hotel in the village of Köveskál, right in the Káli Basin wine country of western Hungary — a region locals call 'Hungarian Tuscany.' The whole project started with two owners falling in love with a for-sale sign in August 2020. Zero prior hospitality experience. The name itself is a blend of 'mandula' (almond, referencing the almond trees in the garden) and 'villa,' with a logo made of two almond shapes forming a heart. On site you get a genuine Italian restaurant led by Chef Alessandro Arena, a Mediterranean cooking school, an outdoor pool, a Finnish sauna, and massage services. It's a proper escape — rural, warm, Italian-leaning — and the restaurant takes outside reservations separately from the hotel.
