mama thresl is a 50-room Alpine design hotel planted right at the foot of the Asitzbahn cable car in Leogang, Salzburger Land. Every room is built from Swiss stone pine — the smell alone is worth the trip — and the look is resolutely mountain-cool: knotted wood, rock showers, natural stone basins. But the vibe is less traditional chalet and more city-people-who-ski: the Island Bar runs DJ nights Thursday through Saturday, there's a private table you can only reach by indoor rock climbing, and the kitchen runs a full bar-lounge-restaurant-clubbing concept daily.
