Rome's first Mama Shelter property, built for travelers who want genuine style and atmosphere without paying luxury hotel rates. The rooftop's views of St. Peter's dome are genuinely special, and the in-house pizzeria with its island bar and lush courtyard is a legitimate reason to come even if you're not staying.
Mama Shelter Roma is a 217-room design hotel in the Prati district, a 10-minute walk from the Vatican and 2 minutes from the Cipro metro stop. Opened in 2021 and designed by Benjamin El Doghaïli, it delivers the chain's signature mix of playful interiors, wood-fired pizza, a rooftop bar with St. Peter's views, and a Roman-style wellness area — all without the eye-watering price tag you'd expect this close to the Holy See. It's not in the historic center, but being a short metro ride from everywhere is actually the point.

Monday through Thursday dinner only: a sharing tasting menu with 3 appetizers, 1 first course, 1 main course and homemade gelato, water included. €45 per person or €55 with wine pairing. Minimum 2 guests.
Weekend brunch on the rooftop from 12:30pm to 4pm, Saturdays. €35 per adult, €17 per child (3–12 years). Speedy brunch format — 2 dishes + 1 drink for €30. Menu includes eggs benedict, waffles with smoked salmon, pancake bacon jam, salads and full mains.
Arcade cabinets and foosball tables in the public areas — part of Mama's signature playful lobby atmosphere.
Live music performances every Friday evening, typically from 7pm to 9:30pm in the restaurant area.
Live DJ sets on the rooftop bar, held on Fridays and Saturdays from 6pm to 10pm (approximately). Views of St. Peter's included. Seasonal — suspended late October to early March when the rooftop is closed.
Modern gym in the basement next to Mama Baths. Equipment includes treadmills, ellipticals, recline and classical bikes, and a dumbbell set. Hotel guests get a free 1-hour slot per day (can be split with the pool). Operating hours 6am–11pm. Pre-reservation required.
