Magma Resort Santorini, Part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt
Modern minimalist luxury. Think stacked lava-stone walls, whitewashed low-rise terraces, natural wood furnishings, and volcanic art pieces — a village-style layout that's airy and open rather than cave-like. Earth tones, moody lobbies, bright rooms.
Request a sea-view room — resort-view units face the vineyard side and miss the Aegean entirely
Why It Matters
One of the longest infinity pools on Santorini (claimed 70m), a subterranean Lava Spa carved from volcanic rock, Greek cuisine curated by two-Michelin-starred consultant chef Lefteris Soultatos, and its own working vineyard on-site. The first and only Unbound Collection by Hyatt property in Greece.
Named for the volcanic rock on which it stands, Magma Resort is built into the lava-forged slopes of Vourvoulos village on Santorini's quieter northeastern coast. This is Hyatt's first Unbound Collection property in Greece, opened in 2022 — 59 rooms and suites, most with private pools or hot tubs, all in a minimalist earth-tone palette that borrows heavily from the island's dark volcanic geology. You're not on the famous caldera side here. That's both a trade-off and the whole point.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Daily 6:30–7:30 PM aperitivo ritual poolside with fire pits lit. Think Italian-style cocktail hour with a Greek twist. One of the more social moments of the resort day.
Hands-on cocktail class at the resort's elevated outdoor Astra Lounge terrace. Runs with 360-degree views and — judging by guest reviews — a healthy pour. Available on request.
The resort has its own working vineyard — guests join a guided tasting with the hotel's sommelier, paired with food from the kitchen. Santorini wines have a distinctive profile due to the volcanic soil. The estate's own wine label is still maturing and not yet poured at the restaurant, but the experience is available now. Extra cost applies.
State-of-the-art gym located within the Lava Spa. Open daily 8am–8pm. Complimentary for resort guests.
Group sunrise yoga sessions held on the Astra Lounge terrace three times per week (Tuesday and Saturday mornings confirmed). Open to all levels. The setting — elevated above the resort with Aegean views — is genuinely worth waking up for.
On-request private dinner on the Astra Lounge terrace with personal butler service. Lantern-lit, fire pits, open sky and full resort views. Requires advance reservation.
Free shuttle (5-minute drive) connects guests to Yalos Beach Club on the black volcanic sands of Santorini. Entry and transfers are complimentary; sunloungers and umbrellas are extra.
