Why It Matters
The only 5-star property within Évora's UNESCO World Heritage historic walls. The hotel is literally built into the 16th-century Palácio dos Sepúlveda, preserving the chapel, Manueline windows, and vaulted ceilings. The Degust'AR restaurant, signed by Chef António Nobre, is a serious dining destination in its own right.
The only 5-star hotel inside the historic walls of Évora, M'AR De AR Aqueduto occupies the former 16th-century Palácio dos Sepúlveda. The palace's original chapel, vaulted ceilings, and three Manueline windows are all intact — contemporary guest rooms and a 500m²+ spa have simply grown up around them. Opened in 2008, it sits right beside the Água de Prata Aqueduct, which you can see from the balconies of certain rooms.
