Lucknam Park
Grand English country house with genuine warmth — antiques, open fires, four-poster beds, and a formal fine-dining restaurant balanced by a relaxed all-day brasserie. Not stuffy, but definitely old-money comfortable.
The Grand Master Suites (Coral and Tower variants) are the original master bedrooms of the house — four-poster beds, fireplaces, and marble bathrooms. Worth the upgrade for a special occasion.
Why It Matters
One of England's most complete luxury escapes: Michelin-starred dining (21 consecutive years under Chef Hywel Jones), an award-winning spa with indoor/outdoor pools, a working equestrian centre with 12 horses, and 500 acres to roam — all within striking distance of Bath. Awarded 3 Michelin Guide Keys in 2024 and part of the Emblems Collection by Accor.
A 1720 Palladian mansion sitting within 500 acres of private Wiltshire parkland, Lucknam Park is the kind of place where you arrive down a mile-long avenue of beech and lime trees and immediately feel like you're somewhere completely removed from normal life. Six miles from Bath, it operates as a 5-star country house hotel with a Michelin-starred restaurant, a serious spa, and a full equestrian centre — all on the same estate. The house itself was a private family residence until 1987 and that sense of lived-in grandeur is still very much present.
