It produces its own IGP extra virgin olive oil from moraiolo, leccino and frantoio trees on the estate and runs its own kitchen garden and beehives — the breakfast alone has a devoted following. Locanda Rossa sits on 21 hectares of Maremma hillside, surrounded by around 3,000 olive trees, a short drive from the medieval walls of Capalbio and about 10 km from the long sandy beaches at Chiarone. Opened in 2010 and refreshed in 2018, the property threads together farmhouse bones with contemporary Italian design — think art on the walls, warm colours, clean lines, and rooms that feel like someone actually thought about them.
