Locanda al Colle
Art-filled bohemian-chic country house; personally run with extraordinary warmth; feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend's home than a hotel
Book the Wednesday cooking class when you reserve your room — it fills up fast and is limited to 4 guests
Why It Matters
Michelin Key holder. Owner-run with obsessive attention to art and design. Candlelit chef's dinners and Wednesday cooking classes replace room service. Heated saltwater pool, Jacuzzi, and a private beach club at Code Beach Versilia are all included in the rate. Twelve rooms only, so it never feels crowded.
A 12-room guesthouse built from a restored ancient farmhouse, perched on a hill above Camaiore with sweeping views toward the Versilian coast. Owner Riccardo Barsottelli — connected to the fashion world — has filled every corner with Art Déco and vintage finds sourced from Buenos Aires, Paris, and London: Fifties armchairs in animal print, four-poster beds, Tiffany lamp stands, and original sculpture. There is no reception desk, no TV, and dinner is a candlelit affair served five nights a week by the in-house chef. The property holds a Michelin Key and has been featured in Condé Nast Traveller, the Financial Times, and Wallpaper magazine.
