Why It Matters
One of South America's most historically significant hotels. Originally opened in 1938 (rebuilt after a 1939 fire and reopened December 15, 1940), it became a member of The Leading Hotels of the World in 1999. It has hosted aristocracy, diplomats, and heads of state, and is now home to the annual Llao Llao Forum (business/politics summit) and the Semana Musical Llao Llao classical music festival.
Llao Llao is Argentina's most iconic resort — a 1940 landmark perched on a small hill between Lakes Nahuel Huapi and Moreno, with the snow-capped peaks of Cerro López and Mt. Tronador looming behind it. Architect Alejandro Bustillo built it in a grand Canadian mountain lodge style: stone walls, Norman tile roofs, exposed cypress and pine-hemlock timbers. The 15-hectare grounds hold an 18-hole golf course inside Nahuel Huapi National Park, a marina, a lakeside beach, and infinity pools that visually merge with the water below. It's big — 205 rooms across two wings — but manages to feel like somewhere you want to linger.

The Moreno Wing's entry room is already a serious upgrade. Large windows, a terraced balcony, in-room jacuzzi, and air conditioning come standard. Views take in Lake Moreno and Mt. Tronador. 23 of these in the wing, connected to the Bustillo building by a panoramic bridge.

The single most exclusive room in the property. Only one exists, at the top of the Moreno Wing. Full panoramic views of Lake Moreno and Mt. Tronador, maximum privacy, and all Moreno Wing luxury features.
Lake Room – Bustillo Wing
A step up from garden-view rooms, with direct views toward Lake Nahuel Huapi or Lake Moreno from inside the historic 1940 Bustillo Wing. Rooms here are the most sought-after in this wing for the views alone.
Lake Studio – Bustillo Wing
Spacious integrated bedroom and living room — nearly double the size of a standard room. Lake views, no air conditioning. A proper lounge area makes this the most comfortable option in the historic wing for longer stays.

Entry-level room in the 1940 historic building. Partial or obstructed views from some; others look onto the resort gardens or Winter Garden courtyard. One of the most scenically situated golf courses in South America, located inside Nahuel Huapi National Park with 360-degree views of lakes and Andean peaks. Includes a Pro Shop with club rentals, driving range, two putting greens, individual and group lessons from professionals, and the option to play Golf Cross. Tee times must be booked in advance.
