Why It Matters
One of the few boutique hotels in Manchester where every room comes with a fully equipped kitchen (Bosch appliances, washer-dryer, dishwasher) and 100% natural Naturalmat mattresses — making it genuinely suitable for stays of days or weeks. The canal-side location on Canal Street is both a feature and a caveat: you're at the centre of the action, but Canal Street on a Saturday night is loud.
LEVEN opened in November 2021 inside a Grade II-listed early 20th-century red brick cotton warehouse on the corner of Chorlton Street and Canal Street, right in the heart of Manchester's Gay Village. The building has lived many lives — cotton warehouse, brewery, comedy club, and once the legendary Mash and Air nightclub — and you can feel every chapter of it in the exposed brick walls, Crittall windows, and cast-iron columns that now share space with bespoke furniture and carefully curated art. It's 42 rooms, all with full kitchens, on one of the most energetic streets in the city.

Friday cabaret night in Bar Maya hosted by RuPaul's Drag Race UK star Banksie, with rotating guest performers. 1930s lounge energy, No.3 Gin Martinis, and weekly drag and cabaret performances from 8pm–11pm.
Weekly Thursday late-night event in Maya's Pump Room (subterranean club), hosted by Eden Binks and Gisele. Burlesque, cabaret, and decadence from 10:30pm to midnight. Free entry but space is limited and a guest list is essential.
LEVEN has a virtual presence in Decentraland at coordinates -123, -93 in the Fashion District. The LEVENverse is an architect-designed virtual immersive hotel environment with lobby, bedroom, and communal spaces reimagined in the metaverse. Includes virtual fitness classes and guided meditation sessions linked to real-world LEVEN programming.
The hotel features a curated private art gallery with pieces selected by hotel director Timothy Griffin. Artwork is displayed throughout the lobby, co-working space, and guest rooms — from black-and-white city photography to upside-down poems. Pop-up events with local artists have also taken place.
