Why It Matters
One of Corsica's oldest luxury hotels, listed by Michelin, Tablet Hotels, Lonely Planet and Vanity Fair. Family-owned by the Pieri family who also run Castel Brando in Cap Corse. The rooftop spa uses Intimu, a 100% Corsican organic plant-based skincare line. Every room is individually decorated and no two are alike.
A 19th-century waterfront villa sitting right on the Route des Îles Sanguinaires at the edge of Ajaccio Bay. The place has been a hotel since 1954 — originally opened in 1930 as the Hostellerie de la Grande Bleue — and the Pieri family has run it since 2006. Just 27 rooms, each different from the last, a private white-sand beach across the road, a heated saltwater pool with bay views, and a rooftop spa. Classic European seaside hotel, executed well.

Perfectly comfortable, with air conditioning and all the same in-room amenities, but you're trading the bay for a lower rate. Makes sense if you plan to spend all your time on the terrace and beach anyway.

At 45-55 sqm, these have a full separate living room, an oversized terrace with panoramic sea views, and a large en-suite bathroom — some with bathtubs.
