Les Lodges Sainte-Victoire
Country estate luxury with a contemporary edge. Think stone walls and 18th-century high ceilings in the main building, then clean-lined modern interiors in beige, grey, and brown throughout. Quiet and restorative rather than buzzy or social.
Book a room in the main bastide for the tall 18th-century ceilings and direct access to all hotel services — the Terrasses rooms have garden terraces but feel more aparthotel
Why It Matters
Holds one Michelin Key distinction. Home to Le Saint Estève, a 1-Michelin-star restaurant (currently on extended closure), with the main fine-dining torch now carried by the Restaurant des Lodges under the same Michelin-starred chef, Julien Le Goff. The estate sits squarely on the Route Cézanne — the actual road Cézanne walked to paint his mountain — and the view from the terrace is essentially the subject of 60+ of his paintings.
An 18th-century Provençal bastide set on a five-hectare estate of vineyards and olive groves, about 6km from the center of Aix-en-Provence and directly facing the Montagne Sainte-Victoire that Cézanne painted obsessively. Converted into a 5-star hotel in 2013, it pairs the original manor house with a contemporary annex (Les Terrasses) and three ultra-modern private villas. The gardens alone — over 1,000 plant species, ancient plane trees, infinity pool — are a reason to come.
