Hauts de Sancerre
Contemporary-minimalist château. No canopy beds or gilded mirrors — think clean lines, neutral palette, freestanding baths, and vineyards framed in every window.

Why It Matters
The first and only luxury hotel in Sancerre, housed in a genuine château whose foundations date to the Middle Ages. Chef Arnaud Munster — Belgian-born, Top Chef finalist, and raised by Michelin-starred restaurateur parents — runs the on-site restaurant. The spa uses La Chênaie oak-derived treatments. The Tour des Fiefs, the last surviving tower of Sancerre's medieval castle (14th century, 40 metres tall), stands on the property and is open to guests each evening.
A 19th-century château perched above France's most famous white wine village, Les Hauts de Sancerre opened in July 2025 as Sancerre's first luxury hotel. The interior plays a deliberate trick: the neo-Gothic façade gives way to a completely contemporary inside — airy rooms in beige, white, and brown, midcentury furniture, and buckets of natural light. Eight rooms and suites for now, with 27 planned by 2027.
