Why It Matters
One of Megève's most iconic hotels — built literally from the bones of centuries-old alpine farms. The Sibuet family invented the Pure Altitude spa brand here, and their 8-restaurant empire across Megève means guests rarely need to eat anywhere else. Les Fermes de Marie is a 5-star hotel assembled from nine chalets built using reclaimed wood taken from over 70 alpine barns dismantled across the Mont Blanc region — a process that took four to five years. Opened in 1989 by Jocelyne and Jean-Louis Sibuet and now run by their children, it sits on a two-hectare park about a ten-minute walk from Megève's center. Rooms are dressed in warm fabrics and Savoy antiques, no two feel identical. But the real draw beyond the slopes is the Pure Altitude spa, which has been setting the standard for mountain wellness in the Alps for over 20 years.
