Book the Caudillo room if you want the best balcony-terrace — 16m² overlooking the leafy central courtyard.

Why It Matters

The only Michelin-listed boutique hotel in Salta. Every room is a themed homage to a real historical figure from the Argentine northwest — indigenous peoples, gauchos, feminist sculptors, poets. It's a concept that could easily feel gimmicky, but the execution is genuinely refined.

Eleven rooms in a restored colonial mansion in Salta's historic centre, each one named after and designed around a legendary Argentine figure — from gaucho warrior Martín Miguel de Güemes to sculptor Lola Mora. The architect owners honed their craft at the Buenos Aires sister property, and it shows: leather armchairs, oil paintings, dark wood, and art objects in slate grey and deep red fill the common spaces. No pool, no full-service restaurant, but a cozy library, a tiled central patio, and some of the warmest staff in the northwest.
