Why It Matters
Marriott's 700th property in APEC and only the second Autograph Collection in Vietnam. Originally developed under the Azerai brand by Adrian Zecha (founder of Aman), the design DNA of small-scale, high-craft, distraction-free luxury is still very much present. The boat-only access and islet location create a genuine sense of separation from Can Tho's noise without being remote.
Legacy Mekong sits on a private islet in the Hau River — a tributary of the Mekong — accessible only by boat, roughly 12 km from Can Tho's city center. Originally built as Azerai Can Tho under the vision of Aman founder Adrian Zecha, the resort became Marriott's 700th property in Asia Pacific (excluding China) when it was rebranded in November 2024. The 60-room property spans bungalows, multi-bedroom villas with private pools, and an infinty pool framed by lotus ponds and banyan trees — a very quiet, design-conscious escape in a part of Vietnam most tourists skip entirely.

Standalone bungalow units facing the resort's tropical gardens and lotus ponds. Each has an open-plan bedroom, large bathroom, and a private terrace or veranda. Contemporary furnishings with local Vietnamese craft details. Terrace seating overlooks the greenery — quiet and private.
Lake View Bungalow
Bungalows facing the islet's internal lotus pond — arguably the most scenic of the standard room configurations. Guests report this as a sweet spot: calmer than river-side rooms, more interesting views than pure garden-facing units. Private terrace overlooks the water lily and lotus-filled pond.
Water/River View Bungalow
Bungalows oriented toward the Hau River. Open-plan layout with floor-to-ceiling windows or sliders opening onto a private balcony with river views. Same quality build as the garden bungalows, with the trade-off being occasional river boat noise in exchange for the water panorama.
