Why It Matters
Holder of a Michelin Key distinction and ranked 3rd Best Hotel in Southern & Eastern Africa in the 2025 Condé Nast Readers' Choice Awards. The on-site partnership with Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines (one of SA's most acclaimed producers) and La Petite Colombe (sister to La Colombe, consistently ranked among the world's top restaurants) gives Leeu Estates a genuinely rare culinary and wine offer for a hotel of this scale.
Leeu Estates is the flagship property of the Leeu Collection: a five-star, 24-room country house hotel and working winery spread across 78 hectares of vineyards, landscaped gardens, and fynbos in the Franschhoek Valley. At its heart is a meticulously restored 19th-century Cape Dutch Manor House — the result of joining four historic farms — surrounded by a collection of freestanding cottages, a world-class spa, and an Everard Read art gallery with monumental sculpture among the vines. La Petite Colombe, a sibling of one of South Africa's most decorated restaurants, operates on-site.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Complimentary bikes available for guests to explore the estate and surrounding area.
Three self-guided trails run along the river, through mountain terrain, and through the vineyards directly on the estate.
The Fynbosch quarter houses Everard Read's purpose-built gallery, designed by DHK architects (also behind the Norval Foundation). The focus is monumental sculpture displayed among fynbos and vineyards, plus important works by gallery artists indoors. An artist residency studio and cottage are part of the complex.
The estate's contemporary art collection is extensive. A self-guided tour takes in significant works throughout the gardens and interior spaces, including notable pieces such as 'Justine' in the lounge and a private installation of Guy du Toit's 'Thinker' in the Manor House Suite.
An exclusive private dining experience for up to 6 resident guests in the intimate Founder's Cellar inside the Manor House. Gourmet cuisine with signature dishes and curated wine pairings. Perfect for special occasions.
Three tasting formats available at The Wine Studio: Signature, Single Terroir, and Leeu Passant. Presented by dedicated hosts. One complimentary tasting per resident guest per stay — additional tastings can be purchased.
Al fresco picnics at allocated spots across the estate, and traditional South African braais available with certain cottages and event spaces. Orders placed 48 hours in advance. Weather dependent.
A guided walk through the Bokkie Garden and edible gardens, which were planted following natural farming principles to supply the restaurants, hotel, and spa. Book at least a week in advance.
A 140m²/1,510ft² event and meeting venue with open roof trusses, timber floors, and tall windows. Seats up to 60 in cinema format. Equipped with AV conferencing, 80-inch screen, and its own lift. Has a terrace with valley views. Catered by The Dining Room team.
