Le Plaza Athénée
Haute couture palace — grand, gilded and fashion-world-connected, with a deep Dior DNA running through everything from the spa to the lobby aesthetic. Not stuffy. The lobby hums with Parisians, the bar is alive, and Jean Imbert's restaurants give the dining a genuine contemporary pulse.

Why It Matters
Holds France's official Palace distinction (awarded 2012) and carries one of the most durable celebrity associations of any hotel in Europe. The Dior connection is genuine history — Christian Dior originally opened his first atelier on avenue Montaigne after being inspired by the hotel. The Michelin-starred dining has been a draw for decades, currently under chef Jean Imbert who earned a star just nine weeks after opening in 2022. And the September 2024 renovation of 49 rooms, including the 450 sqm Royal Suite, means it's not coasting on legacy.
Opened in 1913 on avenue Montaigne — Paris's highest-octane couture strip — the Plaza Athénée is one of the city's handful of official Palace-designated hotels, and arguably the most fashion-forward of the lot. The iconic red awnings and ivy-draped courtyard are instantly recognizable; the interior swings between classical French Louis XVI grandeur and cool Art Deco, depending on which floor you're on. Josephine Baker and Rudolph Valentino were regulars back in the day, and the guest list hasn't exactly gone downhill since.
