Ask for a ground-floor room with bathtub if you want the garden terrace experience; first-floor rooms have balconies with arguably better mountain views

Why It Matters

Sister property to Talaa 12, one of Morocco's best modern riads. Built by the owner with local labor and traditional techniques, it is an architect's personal vision of rural luxury — not a resort, not a heritage hotel, but something genuinely hard to categorize. The 30-meter pool faces the Atlas directly, and every one of the 16 rooms has a private outdoor space.

Le Palais Paysan — literally 'the peasant palace' — sits on a 7-hectare estate at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, about 30 minutes south of Marrakech. Designed by Philippe Taburiaux and decorated by Ludovic Petit (LUP31), it is the rural counterpart to Talaa 12, Morocco's design-forward medina riad. The architecture is radical and unapologetic: contemporary lines meet rough local materials, and the result is a building that feels grown from the landscape rather than placed on it.
