Le Grand Mazarin
Maximalist literary salon — think Wes Anderson directing a period drama about a Parisian aristocrat's townhouse. Colorful, theatrical, design-obsessed, and surprisingly warm. The fashion and creative crowds have already claimed it as their own.
The restaurant entrance is at 6 Rue des Archives — the hotel entrance on Rue de la Verrerie is deliberately low-key and easy to miss.
Why It Matters
The Brudnizki design alone would be enough — nearly 500 artworks, bespoke Aubusson tapestries by Entreprises du Patrimoine Vivant, and frescoes by local artist Jacques Merle over the underground pool. Then add Boubalé, the Ashkenazi/Levantine restaurant run by Israel's first Michelin-starred chef in France, Assaf Granit. The hotel earned 1 Key in the Michelin Guide. Parts of the building date to the 14th century.
Le Grand Mazarin is a 61-room, five-star boutique hotel in the Marais that doesn't do understated. Opened in September 2023, it's Maisons Pariente's first Paris property — and designer Martin Brudnizki (the man behind London's Annabel's) went completely off-script, layering pistachio greens, soft corals, Murano glass chandeliers, hand-painted murals, and Aubusson-style tapestry bed canopies across every surface. It sits catercorner to City Hall, directly opposite the BHV department store, on a small corner of Place Harvey Milk.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, DJ sets begin at Boubalé during dinner and continue in the basement speakeasy until 2am. A cosmopolitan, festive atmosphere that draws both hotel guests and Marais locals.
The hotel periodically hosts artist residencies and workshops — recent examples include painting sessions with pop artist Leona Rose and intimate concerts with French singer Camélia Jordana at Le Petit Bazar.
Seated three-course brunch every Sunday 12–3pm with Mediterranean and Levantine flavors, bold cocktail pairings, and live music. One of the more talked-about Sunday brunches in the Marais.
