Why It Matters
The resort occupies a declared national monument of industrial mining archaeology, with guests entering through the original tunnel once used by carts hauling extracted ore. The dunes surrounding it are UNESCO-listed. It is genuinely remote — a 12 km dirt road separates it from the nearest town — which keeps the beach almost entirely crowd-free.
A former 19th-century mineral warehouse for the Ingurtosu lead and zinc mines, Le Dune Piscinas reopened in April 2024 as a 5-star eco-resort after a meticulous three-year renovation. The entire complex — three buildings arranged around a central piazza — sits directly on Piscinas beach on Sardinia's Costa Verde, flanked by some of Europe's highest sand dunes in a UNESCO-recognised landscape. Twenty-eight rooms and suites, three restaurants, a spa, and a silent outdoor cinema make it one of the most singular places to stay on the island.

The entry-level rooms sit on the ground floor and overlook the central piazza or internal courtyard rather than the sea. Executive Prestige Room
The top floor of the main building, with a four-poster bed and a small terrace from which the dunes feel close enough to touch. Only available in double configuration. Satellite TV and coffee machine included.
Junior Suite Front Sea View
In the building closest to the shoreline, on the first floor. These suites have a small private terrace facing directly out to sea. The sunken floor bathtub inside allows you to soak while looking up at the Piscinas sky. Embossed wall graphics, wrought-iron and wood furnishings, Sardinian fabrics on the seating.
Junior Suite with Private Pool
A standalone structure set among the dunes with independent access from the central piazza. Sea views from the front, a large private garden with deckchairs, and a private pool equipped with an immersion treadmill and hydromassage jet. Double bed only. One of the most private options on property.
Lady Idina Master Suite with Pool
Named after the 20th-century adventurer Lady Idina Sackville, this 70 sqm seafront suite on the first floor of the sea-facing building has a separate bedroom, separate living room with sofa bed option, and two bathrooms including an exclusive standalone bathtub. The real draw is the 90+ sqm private terrace housing a sea-view pool with counter-current swimming, treadmill, and whirlpool.

Lord Brassey Presidential Suite
Named after the English lord who expanded the Ingurtosu and Gennamari mines in the late 19th century. Four individual sea-view suites totalling 190 sqm on the first floor, each with a private entrance, bedroom, and en suite bathroom — sleeping up to eight people in total. The 100+ sqm private terrace has teak furniture, a swim spa with underwater treadmill, and a jacuzzi. A goods lift connects directly to the hotel kitchen, so a private chef can deliver anything at any hour. The most exclusive option for a group or family buyout.

Half- or full-day guided boat excursions departing from the beach. An expert skipper takes guests along the Costa Verde coastline to see mining ruins from the sea, discover hidden coves accessible only by water, and explore natural coastal formations. Snacks or lunch prepared by the resort are available on board. A sunset aperitif at sea with return in time for dinner is also available.
Guided underwater dives led by marine biologists. The Costa Verde waters are known for strong currents and excellent marine biodiversity. Not suitable for complete beginners without prior diving experience.
Bicycle rental with self-guided or guided routes across the Costa Verde. Customised for different ability levels. The nearby Montevecchio Mine (about 10 km away) is a popular cycling destination.
Guided hikes into the dunes and surrounding Mediterranean maquis to observe Sardinian deer in their natural habitat. The UNESCO dune area stretches over 18 km — these deer are wild and regularly spotted.
Guided horse riding excursions through the Costa Verde landscape.

A wooden walkway leads to a secluded private beach directly in front of the hotel, with 28 sets of umbrellas, deckchairs, and sun loungers — one per room, guaranteed. Beach service runs until 30 September.
