Le Calette
Laid-back Sicilian luxury with genuine family character. Think handmade textiles, Sicilian ceramics, 18th-century furnishings alongside fresh contemporary design — nothing feels like it was put together by a hotel chain. Bougainvillea on whitewashed walls, citrus and palm trees in the gardens, and sea views from almost everywhere.
The Gazebo of the Witch Circe is a sought-after spot on the bay — ask about it when booking spa time (open June–September).
Why It Matters
Three-generation family ownership dating to 1969 gives this place genuine soul that most coastal luxury hotels lack. Le Calette N°5 is a vetted Small Luxury Hotels of the World member. The in-house restaurant Cala Luna holds a Michelin Plate recognition (listed in the Michelin Guide Italy 2023, 2024, and 2025), and the property sits two kilometres from Cefalù's UNESCO World Heritage historic centre.
Le Calette started when Sicilian engineer Santino Cacciola fell for a stretch of rocky coastline outside Cefalù and built his dream house on it in 1969. Three generations later, his daughter Francesca, her architect husband Angelo Miccichè, and their daughter Gaia still run it as a boutique resort. The property splits across two wings: Le Calette N°5, the five-star SLH member with 39 rooms, suites, and cabanas wrapped around an iconic pool; and Le Calette Bay, a four-star sibling 200 meters away with villas and family-heirloom furnishings. The whitewashed Mediterranean architecture follows the cliff lines rather than fighting them, winding down to three private coves.
