Laurichhof
Bold, maximalist, playful design hotel. Think Berlin gallery meets Saxon farmhouse, with a family-run warmth that keeps it from feeling cold or precious.
Browse the suite list before booking — each has a detailed page on the official site with photos. Unter dem Meer (100m², sleeps 5) is the biggest and most theatrical, from €240/night.
Why It Matters
Winner of the German Design Award Special 2021 and Iconic Award 2021, and listed in the Michelin Guide. The hotel's signature concept — every suite is a purchasable showroom, with on-site interior designers to advise you — is claimed to be unique worldwide. Gault Millau recognizes the restaurant.
Laurichhof is a 27-suite design hotel in Pirna, a riverside Saxon town sitting between Dresden and the Sächsische Schweiz national park. Opened in August 2019 by interior designer Annette Katrin Seidel and her son Franz Philip, every suite here is a fully realized fantasy world — Jungle Book tropics in Mogli, deep-sea blues and reds in Unter dem Meer, full Pop Art assault in Pop Art — and everything inside, right down to the tap fittings, can be bought and shipped home. The showroom-hotel concept is genuinely unique: there is no other hotel in the world where you can literally purchase the entire room you slept in.

The hotel sits directly on the Elbe Cycle Route, one of Germany's most popular long-distance cycling paths. Bike hire available at the hotel from 2020 onwards.
The hotel reportedly offers free use of the small Elbe ferry to cross to Pirna's historic old town on the opposite bank.
The hotel is on the doorstep of Saxon Switzerland National Park. Marked trails begin within a short drive. The Malerweg (Painters' Way) long-distance trail passes through the region.
A guided tour of the hotel's suites led by the owners/designers, paired with a 3-course dinner including aperitif. Priced at €59 per person.
In-house interior designers are available to advise guests on purchasing suite furnishings and replicating room concepts in their own homes. Items can be ordered and delivered across Europe.
The hotel arranges tickets to the Tom Pauls Theater in Pirna's old town — the only theater dedicated to preserving the Saxon dialect, with a programme from literature to cabaret.
