La Serena Villas
Spanish Colonial Revival meets modern California cool. Intimate, romantic, and thoroughly adults-only (21+). Handcrafted tilework and curated furnishings by Avenue Interior Design throughout. Boutique-hotel feel with a serious food and beverage program attached.
The $48/night resort fee is actually good value — it covers continental breakfast, bike rentals, self-parking, WiFi, filtered water, and EV charging
Why It Matters
One of the very few Spanish Colonial Revival boutique hotels in a city otherwise dominated by mid-century modern. Michelin 1 Key 2025 recipient. Listed as a Class 1 Historical Property by the City of Palm Springs. Part of the Kirkwood Collection since 2023.
A 1933 Spanish Colonial Revival property that got a full renovation in 2016 by architect May Sung — and it shows. Only 18 adults-only villas spread across just over an acre, all with private patios and outdoor clawfoot tubs. One block off Palm Canyon Drive, everything in downtown Palm Springs is walkable. Michelin awarded it a 1 Key in 2025, and Vogue called it one of the most Insta-worthy hotels in the world. The on-site Azúcar restaurant and rooftop bar are legitimately good, not just hotel-good.
