La Réserve Paris
Intimate Napoleonic mansion. Rich materials, deep velvet, Carrara marble, period antiques — but run with discretion rather than grandeur. Feels more like a private club than a hotel.
Le Gabriel only serves lunch Monday–Friday with a very tight seating window (12:30–1:30pm) — book months ahead
Why It Matters
The smallest Paris Palace hotel, first in the city to assign a personal butler to every single room and suite. Home to Le Gabriel, which earned its third Michelin star in March 2024. Repeatedly ranked #1 hotel in the world by Condé Nast Traveler (2020) and #1 in Paris by Travel + Leisure (2021). Also awarded three Michelin Keys in 2024.
La Réserve opened in 2015 in a restored 1854 Haussmann mansion that once belonged to the Duc de Morny — Napoleon III's half-brother. There's no lobby to speak of. Guests are received in the Louis XV Salon and personally guided to their rooms, as if arriving at a very well-appointed friend's house. Interior designer Jacques Garcia went deep into the building's bones, recovering original woodwork, cornices, and moldings, then layering in silk-hung walls, damascene brocade, velvet drapes, and gilded bronze sculptures. The result is opulent but not cold. At just 40 keys — 25 suites, 15 rooms — it is the smallest hotel in Paris to hold the 'Palace' distinction, and that intimacy is very much the point.
