Why It Matters
Listed in both the Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels — rare for a property this small in Colombia. The maximum 16-guest capacity means the rooftop pool and bar are almost always uncrowded, and the building's history (17th-century colonial manor, French-designed interiors) is legitimate rather than just marketed. One of the few boutique properties in Cartagena's walled city that consistently gets called out for atmosphere over amenities.

La Passion is a 17th-century Spanish Colonial manor house in the heart of the walled city, quietly doing what most bigger hotels can't: feel genuinely intimate. The building was designed by French film producer and theater designer Thierry Forte, and the interiors show it — original black-and-white tile floors, antique brass gramophones, heavy wooden chests, and bright accent walls that keep the whole thing from feeling like a museum. The interior courtyard soars through multiple floors, lush with tropical vines and flowers.

A self-contained unit with a kitchenette and separate living area — good for longer stays. The ground-floor apartment faces the street, which some guests have noted is livelier (noisier) than upper floors. Features a modern bathroom with blue tile accents and gold fixtures.
Family Room
One of the larger rooms, configured for multiple guests. Double bed with patterned headboard, reading lamps, white walls, and decorative ceiling details. Bathroom features a double vanity with aged-wood mirror.
Junior Suite
A well-proportioned step up from the Superior Room. Multiple guests have called it a highlight of their stay — spacious enough to feel relaxed without the full Suite price. Vintage furniture, wooden floors, and the hotel's signature warm palette.
Standard Room
The entry-level room. Smaller than the Superior but carries the hotel's same character: wicker bed headboard, decorative pillows, wooden furniture, and a modern bathroom with blue tile and gold hardware. Some standard rooms have balconies opening to the colonial street.
Suite
The flagship room category at La Passion. Large proportions, colonial-style furnishings with canopied bed, patterned upholstered armchairs, and plenty of character. Designed for the most indulgent stay in the property.
Superior Room
Spacious room with a bohemian-vintage feel — double bed, white sofa, vintage wood furniture, and green walls with colorful decorative accents. Good value for the property. Features a clean en-suite with walk-in shower.
