La Maison du Passage
Romantic, design-forward adults-only B&B. Stone walls meet eclectic decor, Christian Lacroix headboards, and private jacuzzis. Each room has a distinct personality. Intimate and deliberately quiet — the whole concept is decompression for two.
Book 3+ nights more than 3 months in advance (excluding mid-July to mid-August) for a 10% discount on both rooms and dinners.
Why It Matters
Holder of 1 Michelin Key (2025) — widely cited as the first B&B/chambres d'hôtes in the world to earn the distinction. Also three-time TripAdvisor Best Guesthouse in France (2017 and 2022). Chef François runs a table d'hôtes sourcing almost entirely from local and organic producers.
Six individually named rooms in a stone building that has stood since at least the 13th century, right on the village square of Martignargues. Hosts François (the chef) and Hervé built this from the ground up as a couples-only sanctuary — no children, no pets, no communal dining tables if you'd rather keep to yourselves. François sources his black pork from the Cévennes and guinea fowl from Ardèche; the table d'hôtes has a serious reputation. In 2025, La Maison du Passage became the first guesthouse in the world to receive a Michelin Key, alongside 180 prestigious hotels in France.
