La Closerie des Capucines
Intimate wine-country maison d'hôtes. Antique-meets-contemporary decor, each room themed around a local Jura element (the river Cuisance, local grape varieties). Genuinely private-home feel, run by director Elise Vincent and concierge Zélie Perraudin — both deeply knowledgeable about the region's wines and producers.
Ask Elise or Zélie to book restaurants in Arbois for you — they know everyone and will get you the table you want
Why It Matters
Owned by Neal Rosenthal, who first introduced Jura wines to the United States and has spent 40+ years building relationships with the region's top winemakers. Guests get access to vineyard visits, curated wine experiences, and the seasonal Chef Nomade program that brings Michelin-starred chefs in for food-and-wine weekends. The Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels both feature it.
A 17th-century limestone mansion in the center of Arbois, turned into a five-room chambre d'hôtes by New York wine importer Neal Rosenthal. The place is small by design — only five rooms (with a second sister property, Le Clos des Rosiers, sharing the same gardens next door) — and it runs entirely on the idea that you should feel like a houseguest, not a hotel guest. The 2024 multi-million-dollar renovation upgraded rooms, bathrooms, and a stunning vaulted wine cave while keeping the historic bones intact.

How you'll actually spend your days.
A seasonal program (typically autumn) that brings world-renowned chefs to La Closerie for luxurious food-and-wine exploration weekends. Guests spend time in the creative hands of a star chef for a full immersive culinary experience.
Complimentary bicycles for guests to explore Arbois and the surrounding Jura vineyards and countryside on two wheels.
Guided hiking and trail running through the Jura landscapes — reculées, forests, and viewpoints — arranged via the property's network of local nature guides.
Through partner Mad Rose Journeys, guests access the L'Académie program — curated visits to the exceptional wine estates that work with the Mad Rose Group. Guided by sommeliers and conducted by people who actually know the winemakers.
The entire property can be privatized for personal or professional events — banquets, receptions, seminars, weddings, family stays. Full event coordination support from the team, including caterers, sommeliers, and musicians via partner network.
The property's rooftop terrace looks out over the hills of Pupillin. A natural spot for pre-dinner drinks while the sun drops over the vineyards.
