La Barchessa di Villa Pisani
Rural chic art relais. Think impressive colonnaded architecture, parquet floors, Simmons beds, Molton Brown toiletries — all inside a building where neon art meets 16th-century stone. Quiet, unhurried, firmly countryside.
Request a park-facing room — rear-facing rooms get significantly more light and look out over the Palladian villa, while front rooms have small barred windows
Why It Matters
One of the only hotels in Italy where you are literally sleeping inside a UNESCO World Heritage Palladian villa complex — the real thing, not Palladian-inspired. Holds a Michelin 1 Key award (2025). The owner is a working contemporary artist whose sculptures and light installations share the corridors with antique furnishings and design pieces by Cleto Munari.
La Barchessa di Villa Pisani is a 15-room art relais set inside the grounds of a genuine UNESCO World Heritage Palladian villa. The building is a restored 19th-century agricultural outbuilding (barchessa) on the estate of Villa Pisani, designed by Andrea Palladio in 1541–1545 for the noble Venetian Pisani family. Current owners Carlo Bonetti and Manuela Bedeschi — she is a professional artist — opened the hotel in 2017 after a long conservative restoration, weaving her neon sculptures, design objects, and a curated collection of major contemporary artists throughout the historic corridors and rooms.
