L'oscar London
Theatrical Baroque opulence. Oscar Wilde-inspired decadence meets Parisian interior design. Every corner has a detail — a carved fireplace, a bespoke scent, a gilded panel — that feels deliberate and a little scandalous. The mood is dramatic and intimate at the same time.
The Junior Suite Bell Tower is the most characterful room for the price — once part of the 1856 original chapel with a Grade II listed fireplace and stone archway
Why It Matters
Jacques Garcia's first London hotel, housed in a Grade II listed Edwardian Baroque former Baptist church. The building retains original Royal Doulton terracotta panels and Grade II listed fireplaces throughout. It holds a Michelin key and is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
A former Baptist church headquarters built in Edwardian Baroque style between 1901 and 1903, transformed by renowned Parisian designer Jacques Garcia into a 39-room boutique hotel. This is Garcia's first London project, and he's gone all-in: a seven-storey chandelier, a glowing onyx bar, peacock motif doors, butterfly-wing taps, and velvet-draped walls. It's inspired by Oscar Wilde's philosophy that moderation is a fatal thing — and the interiors make a convincing argument. There's no pool, no spa. But there is an Afternoon Tea in a Grade II listed chapel and cocktails under a mirrored ceiling.
