Built in 1952 by architect William F. Cody for Hollywood producer Jack Wrather and his actress wife Bonita Granville, L'Horizon started as a private desert retreat for A-listers — Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable, and multiple U.S. Presidents among them. Today it's a 25-bungalow adult-only resort on three acres, radically redesigned by celebrity designer Steve Hermann into something that feels more like a private compound than a hotel. Frette linens, Le Labo toiletries, slump stone walls, copper fireplaces, and zero-edge pool views set the tone. A newer wing — the Hermann Bungalows — adds 24 more rooms with its own pool in a sleeker, more contemporary idiom.

KingThe Residence
Jack Wrather's original home — the most extraordinary accommodation on the property. Fully private with its own full-sized pool and secluded yard. The William F. Cody-designed post-and-beam structure has a living room with walls of glass to the mountains, a sunken seating area with wood-burning fireplace, dining room, wet bar, full kitchen, and marble baths with rainforest showers plus outdoor shower. Can be booked as a 1-bedroom or, when the adjacent room is reserved separately, as a 2-bedroom private home.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Vinyasa and Hatha yoga class held every Saturday and Sunday morning at 9am on the grounds. Suitable for all fitness levels. No sign-up needed. Yoga mat, towels, and bottled water provided.
Private yoga classes bookable through the concierge. Must be reserved at least 48 hours in advance. Price varies by level and complexity.
Free use of bicycles available on property. Palm Springs and the surrounding area are popular for cycling — flat streets and scenic desert routes.
Two pools on the property — the original mid-century zero-edge pool at L'Horizon and a separate pool for Hermann Bungalows guests. Free cabanas and pool umbrellas available. Pool bar service throughout the day.
