Kettner's
Belle Époque boudoir meets 1920s Art Deco decadence. Lush, theatrical, historically layered. The rooms feel like you've broken into a well-appointed 19th-century townhouse, not a chain hotel.

Why It Matters
One of London's oldest restaurants, with documented history stretching to 1867 and royal scandal baked in. The property spans seven interconnected Grade II-listed Georgian townhouses and is now operated by Soho House — though non-members are welcome as overnight guests (with a £100 Soho Friends membership fee added to the booking).
Kettner's started as a restaurant in 1867 — opened by Auguste Kettner, chef to Napoleon III — and it's one of the oldest in London. Oscar Wilde drank here. King Edward VII allegedly conducted an affair here via a secret tunnel to the Palace Theatre. It briefly became a Pizza Express (really). Now, under Soho House, the seven Grade II-listed Georgian townhouses have been restored to something approaching their original scandalous glory: a French bistro, a Champagne bar with its original sugar-cube mosaic floor, a live Piano Bar, and 33 bedrooms dripping in William Morris prints and velvet headboards.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The Champagne Bar can be privately hired for drinks receptions, parties, and gatherings. A complete party floor is also available.
DJ sets at the long marble vinyl bar Thursday through Saturday nights. The tone leans atmospheric and late-night rather than club-loud.
A resident pianist plays in the Piano Bar. Live performance is a regular fixture, particularly in the evenings.
The original 'cabinets particuliers' — the discreet private dining rooms with a colourful historical reputation — have been restored. Available to hire for private dinners and events.
