Avant-garde design hotel meets working winery. Dark, moody, and deliberately theatrical. Think art gallery crossed with a serious wine destination — adults-only, no kids under 12.
Vineyard-facing rooms with the bath are the sweet spot — 38 sqm, Japanese stone soaking tub, and direct vineyard sightlines at sunset.
Why It Matters
Awarded 2 Michelin Keys in 2025, member of Leading Hotels of the World, and named Gourmet Traveller Hotel of the Year in its opening year (2017). The property holds its own 11-hectare LL Vineyard producing estate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and has two hatted restaurants on-site — a rarity for a 44-room regional property.
A jet-black monolith rising out of an 11-hectare working vineyard, Jackalope is one of Australia's most design-forward hotels. The building's stark, angular exterior is a deliberate provocation — completely out of place in wine country, which is exactly the point. Inside, the 44-room property layers inhabitable art, custom Zuster furniture, Tom Dixon amenities, and a 10,000-globe chandelier that pulses above the fine dining restaurant. The vibe is theatrical without being try-hard, and the food and wine program is genuinely world-class.
