Rome Ambasciatori Palace
Neo-Renaissance palace exterior meets contemporary Italian apartment interiors. Warm tones, natural marble, parquet floors, bespoke Italian artisan details throughout. Theatrical public spaces — the Liberty-style marble staircase in the lobby is the centerpiece — but rooms are residential and calm. La Dolce Vita nostalgia with modern luxury execution.
Charlie's Rooftop Bar is open to non-guests — head up for sunset aperitivo with Rome skyline views. DJ sets kick off at 6:30pm daily.
Why It Matters
One of Rome's most historically significant hotel buildings, sitting on the street made famous by Fellini's La Dolce Vita. Opened in 1905 as an ambassador residence, served as the US Embassy Library for nearly 50 years, then reopened in 2023 after a complete gut renovation. Rates start from €745/night.
This is the building that used to house ambassadors on Via Veneto — the street Fellini immortalized in La Dolce Vita — and it still feels like the center of something. Originally constructed in 1900 by architect Carlo Busiri Vici, it served as the US Embassy Library from 1946 to 1993 before reopening in May 2023 after a full renovation as the InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace. The interiors are the work of IA Interior Architects, drawing on genuine Italian materials and Roman craft: brass handles shaped like fluted Roman columns, leather-crafted headboards, 160 rooms across seven floors that feel more like private apartments than hotel rooms. No pool, but the rooftop bar at the top of the building draws both guests and Romans.
