Why It Matters
IHG's flagship InterContinental property in southern China's Pearl River Delta manufacturing hub. Opened in 2020, InterContinental Dongguan sits inside the Minying·Guomao Center complex — Dongguan's first super bay area development — rising as a flagship five-star property for IHG in southern China. The building's sculpted crystal curtain wall catches the light from across the city. Inside, Hong Kong design firm CCD drew from Lingnan culture — Keyuan Garden's 'wok-ear' walls, Dongguan agarwood, the local painting school — and translated all of it into a sleek, high-ceilinged lobby that actually feels good to stand in. It's a business hotel at heart, with 5,000 sqm of event space and direct access to the shopping mall corridor, but the 25-meter starry-sky pool and Baiyun Spa make it a legitimate leisure option too.
