Hotel Steigenberger Wiltcher's
Grand European palace hotel — Beaux Arts architecture, formal but warmed up by a genuinely social bar scene. The Loui Cocktail Bar attracts stylish Brussels locals, not just hotel guests.
The Library lounge is a genuinely good spot for afternoon drinks — popular with locals, not just guests
Why It Matters
One of only a handful of hotels to carry the 'Steigenberger Icon' designation, reserved for the brand's most legendary properties. The building has been a Brussels landmark since 1913 and sits at the address of the city's most fashionable shopping avenue. Enormous rooms by city-centre standards — even the entry-level Superior clocks in at 45m².
The Wiltcher's has been the grand dame of Avenue Louise since 1913 — marble lobbies, chandelier-lit corridors, and old-world bones that no renovation can fully modernize. And they've tried. After a major renovation push, the 267 rooms are sharper than they've been in years: proper soaking tubs, Nespresso machines, deep-soaking marble bathrooms in the suites. The location is genuinely excellent — right in Brussels' upscale shopping corridor, with the metro a short walk away and the Grand Place about 20 minutes on foot.
