Hotel Saint Vincent
Southern Gothic meets 1970s Italian chic. The building's original heartwood pine floors, cast iron columns, and a 150-year-old Virgin Mary grotto coexist with bold wallpaper, velvet bar stools, and canary-yellow wicker lampshades. Eccentric, atmospheric, and very New Orleans — without being in the French Quarter.

Why It Matters
Michelin Key hotel. Travel + Leisure 'Best City Hotel, New Orleans' 2023. Named to Travel + Leisure's IT List 2022. The whole property — five food and drink venues, a private pool, a fashion boutique, live music programming, and an artist residency series — functions like a self-contained neighborhood. The Chapel Club bar is the former orphanage chapel, complete with original stained glass.
A 19th-century red brick landmark originally built in 1861 as the Saint Vincent's Infant Asylum, then transformed into a 75-room boutique hotel by Austin-based designers Liz Lambert and Larry McGuire after a $22.5 million restoration that opened in 2021. The interiors layer 60s and 70s decadence over the building's historic bones — think custom mohair couches, psychedelic wallpaper, stained glass windows, hand-painted murals, and a marble bar upholstered in fuchsia velvet. It holds a Michelin Key and won Travel + Leisure's 'Best City Hotel, New Orleans' in 2023.
