Hotel Paracas
Low-rise desert-meets-sea resort. Relaxed and unhurried, but polished. Pre-Inca cultural motifs woven into bamboo walls and geometric textiles. The vibe is closer to a private coastal compound than a traditional beach resort.

Why It Matters
The only full-service luxury resort in Paracas, with a private dock that provides direct boat access to the Ballestas Islands wildlife sanctuary. Forbes Travel Guide Recommended. Holds Biosphere Sustainable certification. Designed by celebrated architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia. Originally established in 1944; the rebuilt property is owned by Peru's Libertador Hotels, Resorts & Spas group and operated under Marriott's Luxury Collection brand.
Hotel Paracas sits right on Paracas Bay, where Peru's coastal desert meets the Pacific — white cubist bungalows with cobalt-blue doors, bamboo walls, and terraces that look straight out over the water or into manicured gardens. It's the only true luxury resort in the region, and one of the very few reasons to stop between Lima and Cusco. The private dock is the real differentiator: from here, you board a 52-foot yacht to the Ballestas Islands (sea lions, Humboldt penguins, seabirds — the whole show) or head out for guided desert excursions at sunset. Rebuilt from scratch after the 2007 earthquake destroyed the original 1944-era property, it reopened in 2009 with a design by architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia and has held its position as the coastal benchmark ever since.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Board the hotel's 52-foot luxury yacht from the private dock for a tour of the Ballestas Islands ecological sanctuary. Sea lions, Humboldt penguins, and dozens of seabird species. En route, the boat passes the Paracas Candelabra — a giant pre-Incan geoglyph carved into a coastal hillside. Full-day, half-day, and guided fishing options available.
Catamaran rides available for guests on Paracas Bay. Complimentary access noted by multiple guest reviews.
Non-motorized water sports available to guests directly from the property's bay access. Complimentary. Suitable for all levels given the calm waters of Paracas Bay.
Windsurfing available on Paracas Bay. The bay's reliable winds make this a natural activity for the location.
A hands-on cooking class led by the executive chef at Chalana restaurant on the private dock. Learn to prepare traditional Peruvian ceviche using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Includes the finished dish plus a glass of white wine. Runs 10:00–12:00 AM, 1–32 participants.
A unique boat excursion into the Paracas National Reserve on the private vessel 'Rayador' to participate in an authentic shell harvest at sea, followed by an elegant tasting of six shell varieties prepared by hotel chefs. Maximum 8 persons. Includes sparkling wine and white wine. Runs 8:00–13:00 (2-hour experience).
A children's program inspired by pre-Inca Paracas culture. Outdoor adventures, cultural activities, kayaking, paddleboarding, and nature exploration. Guided by a character called Koni. Open daily 10:00 AM–9:00 PM. Complimentary for hotel guests.
Not on-site, but bookable through the concierge. Small-plane flights over the Nazca Lines are a popular add-on for guests; the lines are roughly 3 hours away by road, but accessible by local charter flight.
Guided tour through vineyards of white grapes with a deep dive into the production of Peru's signature brandy. Organized through the hotel's concierge and tour partners.
Guided 4x4 and sand bicycle excursions into the Paracas Desert — the northern portion of the Atacama. The signature excursion ends with a Peruvian picnic at sunset in the dunes. A genuinely memorable way to experience the landscape.
