Built in 2002 for the Swiss national exhibition Expo.02 by architect Kurt Hofmann in collaboration with l'Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, it was conceived as a 'work of art' and has stayed that way. The interiors are sleek and modern, bathrooms have movable partitions so you can watch the lake from the tub, and the whole concept echoes the area's own prehistory — archaeologists found the oldest stilt-house remains in Switzerland on this very site, dating back 5,000 years.

Lake Pavilion
24 individual stilted pavilions set directly over Lake Neuchâtel. The defining feature: a small ladder off the private terrace drops straight into the lake. The bathroom has movable partitions that open the view to the water from the bathtub. Hardwood floors, sleek contemporary furnishings, and an office corner. Every pavilion is a standalone structure — no shared walls, no corridors. Cinq Mondes toiletries, JBL portable speaker, coffee machine, and beach towels included. In summer, the lake water reaches around 23°C.

14 stilted pavilions built on the edge of the lake rather than over the water. The same 68 sqm footprint and identical layout to the Lake Pavilions, but only a small path separates the bungalow from the lake. Still completely private standalone units. The bathroom retains the movable wall feature for lake views from the bathtub, and the terrace faces out over the water. A marginally more accessible entry point to the Palafitte experience, and the rate is lower.
