Hotel No. 11
Eccentric European antique collector meets cosy small-town boutique. Warm, personal, and distinctly non-corporate.
The main entrance is NOT on Hermannstraße — it's in Wallgasse, directly behind the public car park. Put 'Ostwall 3' in your satnav.
Why It Matters
Listed in the Michelin Guide with a rare additional award as a 'particularly pleasant hotel'. Also a Tablet Hotels member. The 1619 half-timbered house hosting the breakfast room is genuinely one-of-a-kind.
Hotel No. 11 is a 17-room boutique breakfast hotel spread across three very different buildings in the middle of Lüdinghausen's pedestrian zone. The original main building was joined by a narrow modern annex with 6 rooms, and then — in the bigger move — a lavishly restored half-timbered farmhouse from 1619 that is probably the oldest residence in town. Furniture collected by VW Bus across Europe fills every room: bistro tables from Paris, a mirror from Orleans, a rocking horse from Gascony, cupboards made from old French shutters. Breakfast is served in English silver style with Limoges porcelain. No pool, no spa, no full restaurant — but that is precisely the point.

A traditional British cream tea served in the 400-year-old half-timbered café: scones with jam, salmon and cucumber sandwiches, and a pot of tea. Must be pre-ordered for parties of 4 or more.
The hotel is a certified 'Bed & Bike' member and well set up for touring cyclists. Lockable garage with tools and electricity, bike rental advice, and local route brochures on offer. Lüdinghausen sits within a flat Westphalian countryside ideal for cycling.
