Why It Matters
The building is a listed 1912 Modernist landmark, attributed to a Gaudí protégé, that lay in ruin before being painstakingly restored by the current owners using local craftsmen. It's also the recipient of a Michelin Key, and one of the only true design-forward adults-only hotels in the Tramuntana mountain zone.
A 12-room adults-only boutique hotel inside a painstakingly restored 1912 Modernist mansion on Sóller's Gran Vía. The building, known as Casa Magraner, was almost certainly designed by Joan Rubió y Bellver — a disciple of Gaudí — and it shows: wrought-iron plant motifs, Sóller limestone facades, soaring ornate ceilings, and a marble staircase that makes an entrance before you've even seen your room. The courtyard garden, with its pool and solarium, is the real centrepiece. Conde Nast Traveller called it 'by far the most sophisticated place in this great town.'
