Hotel June Malibu is a 13-bungalow property on four acres of PCH that started life in 1949 as the Malibu Riviera Hotel, founded by art-loving newlyweds Wayne and Helen Wilcox. Bob Dylan wrote Blood on the Tracks in Room 13 in 1974. The place closed, got a gut renovation in 2016 as Native Hotel, and reopened again in 2021 under the Hotel June name — the team behind Proper Hotels. It's small, low-key, and genuinely cool without trying too hard. Rooms are compact mid-century bungalows with Dutch-door patios, Casper beds, Aesop products, and Wayne Wilcox's original black-and-white photography on the walls. The pool is one of the only hotel pools in Malibu, and the vibe across the property is relaxed California beach without any of the pretension.
