Hotel H15 Francuski Old Town
Historic French-Polish elegance. Neo-classical bones with Victorian wallpapers and art nouveau detailing. Serious history — the Polish Olympic Committee was founded in one of these rooms in 1919 — without being a museum about it.
Ask for a room facing the courtyard or rear of the hotel — the Pijarska street-facing rooms can get lorry noise in the early hours
Why It Matters
The first building in Krakow purpose-built as a hotel (1912). Site of the founding of the Polish Olympic Committee. Michelin Guide recommended (2025). The only hotel in Krakow with this particular combination of documented history, a serious French brasserie, and a location directly opposite the Czartoryski Museum.
Krakow's oldest purpose-built hotel, opened on June 1, 1912 — and still on Pijarska 13 where it's always been. The building is neo-classical architecture that once had gold-capped taps, pneumatic post, and its own automobile to fetch guests from the station. It's the kind of pedigree you feel when you walk through the lobby past the grand columned staircase. A 2022 interior refresh brought it back to sharp without stripping the character: Victorian-pattern wallpapers, neo-classical furniture, and carefully chosen contemporary accents sit alongside each other comfortably. Michelin Guide recommended it in 2025.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Live Chopin piano performances take place in the Brasserie L'Olympique / restaurant area. A guest account from April 2026 mentioned the concierge arranged a great table specifically to see and hear the Chopin concert — suggest confirming the schedule at check-in.
The concierge team actively books city tours, Vistula river cruises, Wieliczka Salt Mine excursions, museum workshops at the Czartoryski (right across the street), and other Krakow experiences. Not an on-site activity per se, but a genuine service rather than a rack of leaflets.
The hotel's Olympic Room commemorates the founding of the Polish Olympic Committee here on 12 October 1919. The founding document — authorizing Poland's participation in the Olympic Games — was signed in this room. The history of Polish sport connected with the Olympic Committee is on display.
