Hotel Felix is Chicago's first Silver LEED-certified boutique hotel, open since 2009 in the River North neighborhood. The name comes from the Latin word for 'happy,' and the hotel leans into that with a lobby full of eco-design theater: a ceiling-high mosaic of logs, a water pond, and orbs floating over a fireplace that together nod to earth, wind, fire, and water. Rooms run small — think 200–255 sq ft for standard floors — but the eco credentials and location one block off the Magnificent Mile are the real selling points.
