Why It Matters

Directly across from the Villa Reale — the 18th-century palace where the House of Savoy spent their summers — Hotel de la Ville has been in the Nardi family since the 1950s and feels nothing like a corporate hotel. The interiors read like an antiques dealer's dream: 17th-century pieces, Chinese vases, Tibetan chests, fine parquet floors, and silk brocades fill every corner. The Derby Grill restaurant is the most famous dining room in Monza. No pool, and the lobby is smaller than you'd expect — but that's part of the charm.
