Hotel Ciasa Salares
Traditional Tyrolean alpine chalet with serious food credentials. Warm, personal, zero pretension. This is a place where 'rustic' is a compliment, not an apology.
Book the Cocun wine tasting with Jan Clemens in advance — it runs daily at 6pm (except Wednesdays) and maxes out at 8 guests
Why It Matters
One of the finest food-focused hotels in the Dolomites, with a storied history of Michelin-starred dining (La Siriola, previously on-site), an extraordinary wine cellar (Cocun), a dedicated cheese room (Nida) with 60+ raw-milk varieties, a chocolate room (Nodla) with 120+ varieties, and a ski lift (Armentarola) just 100 meters from the front door.
Hotel Ciasa Salares is a third-generation family operation run by the Wieser family since 1964, sitting at the edge of Armentarola about 2km outside San Cassiano in the Alta Badia. The building is steeped in Ladin culture — raw larch, pine, and fir paneling, handcrafted furniture, lampshades and headboards made by local artisans. And then there's the food: four restaurants including the acclaimed Cocun cellar with its 60+ raw-milk cheeses and over 120 chocolate varieties, plus a dedicated wine program with over 2,000 labels.
